Verizon and AT&T mentioned on Monday that they have voluntarily agreed to even further hold off the rollout of their next-generation 5G wireless technological innovation at the request of U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
The agreement comes just after both equally companies on Sunday rejected a ask for by the govt to hold off rolling out their 5G companies but as an alternative supplied to extend so-known as “exclusion zones” for 6 months.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other aviation officers panic that the use of C-band spectrum for 5G wireless companies could interfere with sensitive plane electronics, disrupt flights and end result in some diversions.

We know aviation protection and 5G can co-exist and we are self-confident more collaboration and technological evaluation will allay any issues.”
On Friday, Buttigieg and FAA Administrator Steve Dickson sent a letter to AT&T CEO John Stankey and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg inquiring them to delay the planned Jan. 5 introduction of the new 5G wireless provider, citing aviation security fears.
In their letter, Buttigieg and Dickson asked the CEOs to hold off the rollout for two weeks as component of a “proposal as a near-term option for advancing the co-existence of 5G deployment in the C-Band and safe flight functions.”
