UNC-CH grad, program entrepreneur receives Rhodes Scholarship

CHAPEL HILL – Justin Hadad, a 2021 graduate of the College of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been picked for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, which funds study at the University of Oxford.  

Hadad is the second Rhodes Scholar this calendar year from UNC-Chapel Hill, becoming a member of senior Takhona Hlatshwako who obtained the scholarship in October. The Rhodes Rely on is envisioned to announce much more members of its Course of 2022 in the coming times.

Hadad majored in economics and used physics and minored in Latin. At Carolina, he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an Honors Carolina laureate and an entrepreneur. 

In Chapel Hill, Hadad created SplitTime, a scheduling computer software that merges device mastering and economic principle to help corporations regulate employees’ shifts. He also co-launched UNCUT, a storytelling platform that highlights student-athletes’ lives off the discipline, to address their mental wellness. 

He is now planning to get his issue-resolving to the next amount as a Rhodes Scholar. He hopes to help place refugees in environments exactly where they will prosper by employing economic useful resource allocation algorithms and pursuing a master’s degree in economics at Oxford College. 

“This would be the up coming step that I require to serve individuals on a broader scope,” Hadad said. “I’m energized to take that subsequent phase due to the fact I’m confident I can be effective in that realm.”
