Officer shoots, kills suspect at Florida Tech residence corridor

MELBOURNE Fla. – An incident at a Florida Tech home corridor ended in an officer-included shooting.

According to Florida Tech’s Fb site, campus security and the Melbourne Law enforcement Section responded to a “security threat” at Roberts Hall all around 10 p.m. on Friday.

Melbourne law enforcement stated they acquired 911 phone calls reporting a gentleman on campus with a knife chasing soon after pupils. It is unclear if the suspect assaulted a scholar.

Investigators claimed they cornered the suspect into Roberts Hall the place he lunged at an officer. Melbourne police claimed a single MPD officer and a campus safety officer shot at the suspect. Officers said the suspect was killed.

Florida Tech mentioned no a single else was critically wounded and there is no further more threat to the campus.

Melbourne law enforcement have not released the suspect’s id.

Campus officials issued a shelter in put warning that was eventually lifted. The college questioned students to avoid Roberts Corridor and Campbell Hall owing to ongoing law enforcement activity.
