CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An added two p.c tax on hotel rooms in the town starts off being collected as of Monday.

The added money, agreed on by hotel operators, will assistance in advertising and marketing Corpus Christi all-around the entire world.

“This assessment will be for any hotel in the town limits of Corpus Christi that have 40 rooms or a lot more,” explained Brett Oetting president and CEO of Stop by Corpus Christi.

Oetting reported the extra $3.5 million will carry phrase of the town in promoting to adjoining states, across the country and initiate an international promoting campaign to deliver far more visitors to the Coastal Bend.

Charlie Bhakta, a neighborhood hotel operator, also sits on the new Tourism Community Enhancement District board together with other lodge operators and states they would like to see a great deal extra guests in the historically slower off year.

He adds the cash will also assistance set up commissions who will aim on bringing certain varieties of activities to our place.
