Fired when pregnant, this lady entrepreneur introduced an artisanal syrup startup

In 2016, Vaishali Mehta was searching forward to an interesting digital promoting job at a Bengaluru startup.

When she questioned her bosses about the deliberate transform, she was terminated for “not pulling her weight”.

That became the reason for Swa Artisanal Syrups, a Bengaluru-dependent model that provides mocktail and cocktail mixes, iced teas, lemonades, and speciality craft coffees.

As Gujaratis born and elevated in Kolkata, Vaishali and her husband Sumir say foods and flavours were portion of their upbringing, on and off the meal desk.

A graduate in mass communication and videography from St Xavier’s University, Mumbai, and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Media and Conversation, she wrote and directed numerous movies during her time at both equally these institutes.

Sumir, who is also her co-founder is an engineer from NIT Surat, and has about 15 years’ practical experience in tech, operations, and businesses processes with Oracle. He labored with Swa on the facet and joined entire time in 2022.

Rethinking the offering

Through a shorter stint New York, the pair found the sheer range of contemporary components applied in drinks.
