Stanley Charren, mechanical engineer, entrepreneur, inventor, and wind electricity pioneer, died December 31, 2021, of COVID-19.

Stanley was born on June 5, 1924, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Harry and Gertrude (Katz) Charren.

Soon after significant school, Stanley enrolled at Brown College, graduating in 1945 with a degree in mechanical engineering and finishing an M.S., in 1946, in mechanical engineering at Harvard University.

While a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Pressure Reserve, Stanley was assigned as an engineer by Fairchild Corporation for a challenge to build an expendable jet motor for wartime use. Having accomplished substantial perform on creating the motor, Stanley was despatched to Chincoteague Air Force Foundation for motor tests. The motor, mounted on the wing of a slow PB4Y plane, was consistently flown to significant altitudes and put in a dive with Stanley in the machine gun turret on the side of the plane. When sufficient pace was achieved, Stanley would push a button to allow fuel to pour out of the engine which would ignite in flames so Stanley could study the burn off pattern.

In 1958, Stanley co-founded Bytrex Company, which merged with Kulite. Kulite-Bytrex grew to become the first corporation in the world to make a commercially marketed semiconductor pressure gauge with an output just about 100 situations greater than conventional gauges.
