EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — An personnel accused of starting up a fireplace at the El Cajon towing company he labored at was taken into custody by authorities in New Mexico.
El Cajon Law enforcement explained 39-year-old Burton Kanehailua was in the New Mexico/Texas spot on Thursday when he contacted ECPD arson investigators and informed them he wished to transform himself in.
Kanehailua was taken into custody by Socorro Police in New Mexico, and El Cajon Law enforcement mentioned the tow truck he allegedly stole was recovered.
Kanehailua is envisioned to be extradited back again to San Diego County, and police indicated he would face costs of arson and automobile theft.
Law enforcement alleged Kanehailua entered C&D Towing on the evening of Dec. 14 with a gas can and then “poured what appeared to be gasoline inside an office and established the making on fireplace.”
As the fire unfold at the business enterprise, Kanehailua allegedly stole a enterprise tow truck and drove absent from the scene.
The suspect’s motive in the arson circumstance continues to be unclear.
