LUBBOCK, Texas – For US Air Pressure Captain Joseph Lozada, the Double T represented a lot more than just school pride. Captain Lozada was an alum from Texas Tech University, joining the Military as a flight nurse for the Air Pressure. 

Captain Lozada would bring a few flags with him on his deployments, the US flag, the Texas flag and the Texas Tech flag. 

“It’s a legacy of pleasure and honor. You know, just like in our college track, we want to present honor all the time to almost everything that we’ve attained and not just for myself but for all all those who have been to Texas Tech and all people that provide,” explained Captain Lozada. 

Captain Lozada left his Texas Tech flag in Afghanistan throughout his deployment in 2020, “I had pinned it to the wall, I put my signature on it and just remaining it.”

Above a year later, Captain Lozada was reunited with that exact same flag he remaining driving by a fellow Flight Nurse and Crimson Raider. 

“One of our other flight nurses pulled it off the wall and brought it again dwelling simply because they had been chatting about ideas to depart Afghanistan and that anything there was just heading to be demolished anyhow,” mentioned Captain Lozada, “I was unquestionably energized simply because I was like, ‘holy moly, I did not be expecting to see this,’ and her considered was accurately mine. Like ‘hey, listen, like I know this was meant to be a legacy but it is not something that should really be dropped and forgotten in time.” 

Their reunion and service to their place was commemorated by the University, framing the flag in the Texas Tech Overall health Science Heart. 

“It’s a seriously great emotion to know that other people will be ready to see it and other folks will be in a position to see every thing that was sacrificed in buy to just take it out there and to carry it again,” explained Captain Lozada.
