Sweet trail of Halloween enjoyment for family members at Orrville’s Drop Festival

ORRVILLE – Falling coloured leaves, crisp temperature, apple cider, automobiles donning spooky decorations and sweet treats for little ones. 

That was the fundamental recipe for slide fun in Orr Park Saturday as the American Legion Auxiliary and the city teamed to host the next annual Drop Competition at the park’s Northwest Trail.

“It’s the fourth yr that we have finished the trunk or treat for the town of Orrville, the second calendar year we have finished it with the town,” claimed Jamie Hunt from the community submit of the American Legion.

Prizes for ideal decorated trunks went to:

• Initial spot: Darrin and Robin Hansen — $100
• 2nd location: Barbie and Darrin Johnson — 2 steak dinners
• 3rd place: Brandi Massey and Todd Mohler — wings

The working day began at noon with a ribbon-cutting for the Gateway challenge hosted by Orrville Improvement Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce, and City Council.

The building task started in 2019 with various enhancements in Orr Park such as the basketball and tennis courts. Park and Recreation Director C.J. Handwerk said there are two far more phases that will incorporate bogs, a splash pad, and extra pickleball courts.

A automobile present kicked off the festival with around 20 cars registered and parked at Orrville Higher school.

The American Legion presented no cost hotdogs, scorching chocolate, popcorn, and apple cider for the residents at Haller Hall.

“We are just making an attempt to get the neighborhood and some of the corporations together by decorating their automobiles and passing out sweet for the young ones,” Hunt claimed.

Kids dressed as superheroes, princesses, witches, and even serial killers gathered close to Haller Hall with their family members as their 1st stop for trunk or treat.

“This is just a safe and sound environment for the youngsters and which is what tends to make it exclusive,” Kathy Somers of Orrville said.
