LYONS — The Lyons Community Library devoted the Theresa Streb Memorial Backyard on the library’s front garden for the duration of a ceremony held July 11.
Forty folks attended the celebration that honored Theresa Streb, who had served as library director for 34 a long time until finally she died in March 2021.
Joan Wallis, secretary of the Lyons General public Library Board of Trustees, spoke at the occasion and expounded on Streb’s commitment to the Lyons community, not just as a result of her ability as library director but also by means of her involvement with the Lyons Chamber of Commerce, the Lyons Heritage Society, and several other businesses. The rehabilitation and growth of the library’s present creating happened throughout Streb’s tenure.
Wallis acknowledged the Pals of the Lyons Public Library, and in distinct Anne Salerno, who labored with Chris Horn of Blades and Spades to set up the backyard garden past yr.

Other speakers included longtime Library Trustee James Frind, City of Lyons Supervisor James Brady, and Lyons Community Library Board Chair Gary Bennett. A representative from Assemblyman Brian Manktelow’s business office also attended.
Following the ceremony, refreshments have been served in the library’s group room, in which attendees could peruse a show of books purchased in Streb’s memory.
