Waving spectators, with smiles aglow, dotted the route of the Emancipation Day Float and Street Parade on Monday as celebrations for Jamaica’s diamond jubilee kicked into high gear. Behind giant effigies of Jamaica’s flora and fauna and music trucks were costumed groups, talented youth organisations playing musical instruments, Jonkunnu dancers, beauty queens, public service workers and more than 1,000 participants parading from the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre through to the National Stadium car park .
