The flooding–and subsequent hurt it brought on–was unprecedented in mother nature, Stewart claimed. 

“We experienced a good deal of injury in the aftermath,” he explained. “We’ve experienced several floods in the 50-yr heritage of the organization, but almost nothing quite like this. In the lessen stage of the museum, h2o arrived in up to about eight feet.”

Fortunately, Stewart said most of the artwork itself was on the future stage up, and spared from destruction, but nine other properties on their 15-acre campus, Stewart estimates the museum is searching at assets injury approximated to be about $6 million, like gear and furniture shed to the flooding. 

“The detail that I believe most people will discover–people who have been going to Brandywine for a whilst–is we typically have a handmade ornament screen, we phone individuals ‘critters,’ and we have those on enormous trees that towered up to the third flooring from the central foyer. Sadly, more than 8,000 of individuals handmade ornaments had been destroyed in the floods.
