Rent-A-Heart settles California claims of illegal leasing, misleading advertising

Aug 2 (Reuters) – Hire-A-Middle Inc (RCII.O), just one of the largest U.S. lease-to-possess firms, will fork out $15.5 million to settle rates it violated California buyer protection regulations related to illegal leasing tactics and misleading advertising and marketing, point out Lawyer General Rob Bonta said on Tuesday.

Bonta reported the settlement phone calls for Rent-A-Heart to shell out a $2 million civil great and $13.5 million in restitution to buyers.
