DuBOIS — The Reitz Theater of CRI will present its summertime production of “Gypsy” during the 1st two weekends of August.
The traditional 1959 musical, loosely based mostly on the memoirs of renowned burlesque artist and performer Gypsy Rose Lee, facts the complicated relationship involving Louise (centered on Lee) and her mom, Rose, and sister, June. The trio’s ordeals all through the heyday of the roadshow theatre circuits illustrate Louise’s emerging expertise as she is consistently overshadowed by her domineering mom and doted-on sister.
“The cast is performing a excellent job with vocals and the choreography,” director Jonathan Heid claimed. “I think they’ve introduced the figures to existence and are possessing enjoyment with them as properly. The cast contains Amanda Braunns, Shannon Gibson, Karl Rebon, Caitlin Kalgren, Liam Webster, Joe Hertel, Colin Lindmar, Devan Bell, Shaelynn Brubaker, Alexia Catalone, Aidyn Edwards, Steven Walsh, Josh Alderton, Beecher Klingensmith, Marc Schule, Gage Pardee, Leah Gerg, Allie Aughenbaugh, Brenna Yale, Remington Osselborn, Madalyn Rhodes, Audrey Mezser, McKinley Millron, Jennifer Alker-Milliron, Isabella Jay, Devin Sommers, Kennedy Ferguson, Marshall Pisarcik, Andrea Catalone, and Maddy Newcome.
The production includes a rating composed by Jule Styne, lyrics penned by Stephen Sondheim, and a script created by Arthur Laurents. The musical is acknowledged for its potent woman characters, notably the famous roles of Mama Rose and Louise.
“I’m happy to have directed Amanda and Shannon in the generation of their people,” Heid mentioned. “We see them both evolve: one particular in refining her self-delusions and the other in establishing her self esteem, power, and grace.”
