LEWISTON — Mental health and fitness treatment providers have faced unparalleled challenges about the 23 months because the pandemic started in Maine as the demand for care has skyrocketed, staffing shortages persist and a historic amount of health care industry experts are leaving the field.
The pandemic has “dramatically increased” the need to have for mental health solutions, said Dr. Michael Kelley, a psychiatrist and chief professional medical officer for behavioral overall health for St. Mary’s Overall health Technique.
The Residence Pulse Study, a survey of American households done by 6 federal agencies to monitor the social and financial impacts of COVID-19, discovered that 32% of grown ups claimed indications of anxiousness and depression in December 2021 and 42% of adults documented symptoms in December 2020.
For comparison, a survey of American homes in 2019 identified that about 8% of grown ups had signs and symptoms of nervousness and melancholy.
