HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech junior goaltender Blake Pietila has been named to the Enjoy List for the Mike Richter Award, specified annually to the major goalie in men’s NCAA Division I hockey because 2014. The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) introduced the 28 goalies on the listing.
Pietila is a junior from Howell, Michigan, and is in contention for the award for the next straight season. He was one particular of the nine finalists in 2021 and is a Hobey Baker candidate for the second time in a row. Pietila has twice been named a CCHA Goaltender of the 7 days.
Pietila has begun all 21 game titles for the Huskies this season and is 12-8-1 over-all with a 1.81 goals-from ordinary, and a .921 conserve share. He ranks fourth in the country in with five shutouts, seventh in plans-from common, and 2nd in the CCHA in preserve proportion. Tech ranks fourth nationally in penalty killing share (90.5) and fifth in scoring protection (1.86).
A committee of voters — manufactured up of a cross-segment of coaches, directors, scouts, and media — will pare the list down to roughly 15 names in the following two weeks and then in the end choose the winner who will be declared in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
