Outdated assert about nurse swapping 5,000 infants at beginning has been debunked

The article discusses facts in an April 2019 story in the Zambian Observer that said a maternity ward nurse named Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa at the University Instructing Medical center in Lusaka, Zambia, created a deathbed confession that she “made use of to swap toddlers at UTH for entertaining.”

But, as Snopes documented in 2019, the Lusaka Situations documented that year that an investigation by the Typical Nursing Council of Zambia located no proof to support the claims in the Zambia Observer story — or any midwife named Elizabeth Bwalya Mwewa in the council’s registry. .

The Zambian Observer also noted on the investigation, expressing that it “revealed that no midwife by that name ever existed and later on worked in (the) maternity ward at the University Teaching Hospitals.”
