OMG!con had prepared a parade of costumed people from the Owensboro Conference Center to The Brew Bridge at 5 p.m. Saturday.
But a chilly wind was blowing mist throughout downtown.
And the parade, which would have been on Elm Street — as in “Nightmare on Elm Street” — was canceled.
But John Bowen, OMG!con’s vice president, mentioned there was nonetheless loads to do inside of the convention heart.
“We have a superior continual team participating in video games,” he said.
At 7 p.m., P.J. Starks and Erik Huskisson of Blood Moon Pics had been scheduled to present their “13 Slays till Xmas” film in the convention centre.
And the Hocus Pocus costume Halloween ball was scheduled to get started at 9 p.m. and last till 1 a.m.
“Everybody is getting a great aged time,” Bowen explained.
But this was a mini-con.
The OMG!con conventions are ordinarily in June and convey up to 4,000 fans of cosplay (costumed participate in), anime and video gaming to town for a week.
But the coronavirus pandemic pressured the convention to be canceled in 2020 and once more in June.
So, the group scheduled a just one-weekend accumulating to enable folks get again alongside one another.
Cole Keeling of Paducah was dressed as Anna of Arendelle from “Frozen II.”
“We’re made use of to warmer weather conditions,” she reported. “Usually we fill all three flooring of the conference centre. But this year, we’re all in this ballroom.”
But Keeling claimed, “It’s continue to exciting to see men and women you haven’t witnessed for two a long time. It’s enjoyment to see previous mates once again.”

Keeling mentioned she observed cosplay on YouTube and made a decision to try out it.
Her spouse, Kody Keeling, stated he’s been associated with OMG!con for 10 to 12 yrs.
“She bought me into it when we were being courting,” he said.
Keeling was dressed as Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare In advance of Christmas.”
“I’m not definitely into cosplay,” he stated. “I operate the movie sport area.”
There were 22 to 24 new games and a continual line of men and women waiting around to play them, Keeling said.
