Karan Geist, 61, and her daughter Alyssa Geist, 33, appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday and pleaded not responsible to the slew of fees from them, such as grand larceny and fraud.

“This is a 13-calendar year scheme that involved countless numbers of credit card transactions whereby Karan falsely described — even though she incurred authentic charges — as fraudulent,” reported Assistant District Attorney Catherine McCaw in the course of the hearing.

Prosecutors allege Karan falsely disputed $850,000 in prices from somewhere around 14 unique credit rating card organizations concerning 2008 and 2021.

“These purchases ranged in mother nature from the deluxe to the mundane,” in accordance to District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s workplace.

“On many situations, Karan booked travel equally for foreign and domestic to unique locations which includes Paris, Milan, Norway, Costa Rica, Hawaii and a variety of other locations,” the ADA advised Justice Laura Ward in court. 

The Huntington resident allegedly gained credit history on her statements after contacting financial institutions and crafting letters to staff members falsely reporting fraudulent costs, which include $205,000 on her American Categorical cards and $155,000 from Chase.
