NEWPORT, R.I. — The Newport People Festival, acknowledged for creating electrifying musical moments — the most well known staying Bob Dylan’s decision to plug in his guitar in 1965 — this weekend has a little outer phase that is staying run in part by pageant-goers on stationary bicycles.
The Bike Stage is the brainchild of the band Illiterate Gentle, an environmentally mindful indie rock duo from Virginia, who has partnered with a company named Rock the Bicycle to produce a pedal-driven sound procedure, which they have already been working with at little club exhibits.
Frontman Jeff Gorman reported the “Bike Stage” at the event in Rhode Island is the first time the technique has been tried at a competition. About a dozen artists are scheduled to execute largely acoustic sets on the phase.
