MCHP was commenced by CAPS just after recognizing the require for a culturally responsive mental wellbeing services for pupils who are BIack, Indigenous and men and women of colour. 

Erinn Scott, the program’s assistant director, said CAPS heard the voices of college student advocates when producing MCHP, and that those people similar voices encouraged her to take on the lead position in the software. 

“Students had been giving messages to CAPS for a extended time of ‘we require much more range, we will need extra representation,’ but it achieved a fever pitch, and we as team could not not hear that,” she mentioned. “Student activists and advocacy ignited our very own passion and power.”
