Lydia Whaley dreamed of staying in FFA most of her lifestyle.
“My mother and father have been in FFA and so have my cousins,” Whaley claimed.
Whaley grew up on a farm wherever she acquired all about agriculture. She mentioned she’s passionate about numerous types of farming.
“I expand pumpkins during the summer season and different points like that, we have about 45 acres of pumpkins that I develop each and every calendar year and then I also aid with our cattle farm as well, feeding in the mornings and the afternoons,” she explained.
Increasing these pumpkins is a lot more than a university venture, it is also a business enterprise.
“We have report publications and we set the dollars and things that we distribute in there but with my pumpkins, I’m placing it again and I’m preserving it for college or university and to assist pay out for my faculty diploma,” she explained.
At school, she strategies to get an agribusiness degree, but until eventually then, she’s centered on turning out to be chapter president and winning far more awards.
She stated she enjoys public speaking the most.
“My freshman calendar year I was incredibly scared, I did not like to chat to a whole lot of people today. But my advisor she constantly pushed me, she supported me,” she explained.
Her desk of awards present how considerably she’s developed around the years.
“It was just an complete awesome expertise, I achieved so quite a few new men and women, so quite a few pleasant people and I satisfied other advisors, people who gave me fantastic assistance,” she stated.
She mentioned she’s grateful FFA gave her additional assurance and the tools to succeed.
Now, she’s setting an example for her youthful brothers to continue the FFA family tradition.
“My group, my chapter, my group, all people supports me and its unquestionably awesome,” she said.
