Sands is fluent in Navajo and wants the more youthful era to hold it alive.

“When you pray in that Indigenous language, you sing songs in that language, what good is it if you really don’t know what these text necessarily mean?” Sands questioned.

He’s teaching kids Navajo by means of puppets named Ash and Sadie.

“We also want to be instructional as well as entertaining,” explained Sands.

Sands arrived up with the concept after visiting a faculty in San Juan County.

“She was attempting to convey to her learners to clear the classroom and they would not listen to her. So, she took out this puppet,” he explained.

Mabel Martin is the host and teaches Navajo to learners at Montezuma Creek Elementary Faculty.

“When I was a child, I watched Sesame Road. I realized the letters, you know, and the thought,” she stated.

Martin believes “Navajo Highways” can have the exact impact.

“First of all, it is going to revitalize our language. By means of toys, through storytelling, it’ll genuinely choose up student’s focus,” she explained.
