MINNEAPOLIS — A person by just one, Susan Zdon greets buyers at her Lake Road store.

“We have a Minnesota section, area artists,” she says. 

Susan initially begun her small business in 2005. “It is really a true symbiotic romantic relationship that has experienced a special spot in people’s lives.”

For Zdon, Corazon is a daily life-lengthy aspiration. 

“It suggests ‘heart’ in Spanish and truly comes from mom’s time in Argentina when she was increasing up,” explained Max Zdon, who also operates at the shop. 

Susan begun out with a shop in Downtown Minneapolis, just before transferring the organization to it’s current location – functioning together with her son, Max.

Through the pandemic and next the murder of George Floyd, Susan says the neighborhood encompassing her shop helped the smaller business get by way of really hard times.

“During the protests, the neighborhood saved our retailer, they came by and stopped the looters from breaking in,” she stated.

Now, they’re performing to elevate BIPOC businesses and products with the Red Shelf Project.

“My mom truly put the do the job in with Jayda Pounds. She basically sets up pop-up outlets with Black creators,” stated Max.

Susan now credits their on line retail outlet with helping them remain afloat for the duration of the pandemic, alongside with her household and local community – the center and the heart of Susan’s shop.
