It is been a several several years, but Robert Hight is again on prime.
The California indigenous received his third NHRA Amusing Car or truck championship in 2019, but has had to wait around a few several years prior to he’d be in a position to contend for the title as soon as once again.
COVID-19 prevented Hight from competing in all but two races in 2020. He then received only two races on his return to the sport in 2021 and concluded a disappointing eighth in the standings.
But now, Hight looks to be racing in the direction of his fourth title. He now has six wins this season and a 250-stage guide in the Funny Motor vehicle standings.
Of training course, this guide will be almost eliminated the moment the Countdown to the Championship – NHRA’s six-race playoffs – begins next this weekend’s U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. But Hight is rightly very pleased of his John Force Racing team’s general performance so significantly this time, and has large hopes for the Countdown.

“This is what you dream about just about every calendar year,” Hight said in an unique interview with Car Racing Digest. “Sometimes it’s a far-fetched dream with the competition amount in Humorous Car or truck. I assume it’s tougher than it is really ever been to even get a race. But we’ve managed to get six of them and have been in some other finals.”
Right after missing most of 2020, Hight mentioned that very last calendar year was a really humbling period. The staff envisioned to return to the effectiveness that it had in 2019, but perhaps immediately after a calendar year off they had been caught off-guard.
