Israel organizing trial import of overseas tech employees amid shortage

JERUSALEM, Dec 13 (Reuters) – Israel intends to import foreign workers for its significant-tech sector on a trial foundation to offset a pandemic-era labour shortage, Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Monday.

In remarks to his party’s legislators, Lieberman explained Israel was enduring a labour lack throughout the financial system as a total all through the coronavirus pandemic, with companies demanding motion from the government, like work permits for foreigners.

“We will carry out a type of experiment in the significant-tech sector. We will approve bringing in overseas workers – even for the higher-tech sector,” he said in his remarks, broadcast on Israeli television.

Lieberman gave no numbers or timeframe for the trial in Israel’s booming large-tech industry, which lifted $25 billion this calendar year.
