Imlay City’s Wintertime Playground is coming downtown this Saturday

Imlay Metropolis Christian School college students wave from their reward-bedecked float in the 2019 Winter Playground parade. The fun and festivities return this Saturday, Dec. 11.

 

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay Town Downtown Advancement Authority (DDA) and Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to current this year’s Winter season Playground on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The 2021 Winter season Playground will run from 5-8 p.m. downtown, with the once-a-year Xmas parade set to kick off at 6 p.m.

The regular parade will element the Imlay Metropolis High Faculty Band, neighborhood Scouts, Imlay Metropolis Law enforcement and Fireplace Departments, many lighted floats, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

At the conclusion of the parade, all are invited to Lamb-Steele Park, where Santa will preside over a tree-lighting ceremony, sponsored by the DDA.

Right after the tree-lights, youngsters and mom and dad will gather at the Halabicky Insurance plan places of work at 335 E. Third St., where Santa will hear to children’s Christmas wishes and pose for photos.

In addition to the parade and tree-lighting, the Chamber and DDA are presenting other Winter Playground routines.

They incorporate horse-drawn carriage rides, a Christmas craft clearly show at the outdated fireplace hall from 4-8 p.m., facial area painting, children’s crafts and reading at the Ruth Hughes Library, warming stations, elves workshops, children’s present bags, Give-A-Glow, roaming gifting reindeer, and much more.

For people wishing to be in the Lighted parade, Imlay Metropolis Chamber Director Shannon Hamel is continue to accepting apps.

“We want to motivate folks to be portion of the entertaining,” Hamel explained. “That incorporates young ones who set lights on their bikes and trip along.”
