Hunting Again: Remembering the Phelps Class of 1955 veterans

I phone it the 37 Club simply because just about all of us have been born in the calendar year of 1937. There were two exceptions — a single in 1935 and a person in 1938.

From Buffalo, we were flown to the United States Naval Teaching Middle at Bainbridge, Md. Harvey, Clark, Ed, Alfred, Jerry and Tim all stayed with each other at boot camp. They ended up in the 305th Enterprise, 53rd Battalion, 5th Regiment. I was in Company 412 (Corridor of Fame), 43rd Battalion, 4th Regiment. Here, we underwent 8 weeks of intense coaching.

Transitioning from civilian to military services lifetime was an eye-opener. We will under no circumstances overlook that working experience, with our provider quantity stenciled into every single piece of garments and our brain.

This naval schooling center was initially the Jacob Tome Institute for Boys and integrated 1,132 acres on the northeast bank of the Susquehanna River.
