How Susan Wojcicki Rose to the Top of the Business World

Susan Wojcicki has been a key player in furthering the businesses that we know and love for over 2 decades. Involved in the foundation of Google and becoming their first marketing manager in 1999, she is responsible for driving much of the business’ success. This is her story so far and how she has become one of the most notable figures in the business world.

When Google was founded, Susan Wojcicki was one of the key experts involved in its development. Her experience and input in this process led her to become the marketing manager. After working on their initial marketing programs for a number of years, Wojcicki helped lead the development of Google’s advertising products. In 2003 she became the first product manager for AdSense and was greatly successful in its implementation. Due to her success with this, she became Google’s senior vice president of Advertising & Commerce. This meant that she headed the development of Google’s following advertisement products including AdWords, DoubleClick, and Google Analytics.

Wojcicki’s most notable move from there was to propose the purchase of YouTube. YouTube was, at the time, only a small startup however it was successful in competing with Google’s own video service, a service that was overseen by Wojcicki. In 2006, Google purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion. This purchase was highly successful and Susan Wojcicki became the CEO of YouTube in 2014, leading her to become one of the most influential businesswomen in the world. Since 2014, YouTube has become the top video service in the world and has only continued to grow in terms of both creators and subscribers.

Her continued success in developing the popularity of two of the world’s top businesses, Google and YouTube has allowed Susan Wojcicki to emerge as a highly successful figure in the business world. Her continued innovation has set an example for many others who have come after her.
