George Floyd, Breonna Taylor sculptures to be auctioned in New York

Floyd, who died in Might 2020 soon after a white Minneapolis law enforcement officer knelt on his neck for above nine minutes through an arrest, grew to become the experience of a movement hard police brutality and bias in the US felony justice system.

The officer was sentenced to 22 yrs in prison. Taylor was shot and killed when armed police stormed her Kentucky condominium in March 2020. None of the officers has been billed with her demise.

Sotheby’s in New York said the 6 ft (1.8 meter) tall bronze painted sculpture of the head of Floyd was anticipated to fetch $100,000-$150,000.The Taylor function is of a more compact scale at much less than 4 ft (1.2 meter) tall. It has been re-envisioned from the initial bronze end with black and white entire body artwork made by the Nigerian-bred performance artist Laolu.

It carries a pre-sale estimate of $20,000-$30,000. Sotheby’s explained proceeds from the sale will aid the We Are Floyd and Breonna Taylor Foundation proven by their people to combat for social justice.
