Doug Pua and Ailene Ting opened the first Shangri-La Restaurant in Briargate in 2003, presenting upscale Chinese cuisine with Mandarin and Szechuan specialties.
They retired in 2020, but the current owners, Kian Bathroom and his spouse and children, have found fantastic results. “We’ve experienced a good deal of requests to have a presence in a further part of town — the east, the south and the west, too — but we simply cannot do them all,” reported Loo. “The opportunity arrived to grow [east], and we favored the area.”
Shangri-La East is positioned at the conclude of a purchasing middle that shares a parking ton with a Kum & Go — gas stations make not likely neighbors for upscale dining, but very good food items can be any where.
