A previous Civil Air Patrol cadet of the Hernando County Composite Squadron spoke to about 40 cadets and senior customers Aug. 9 and discussed how his Civil Air Patrol encounter has prepared him for his Navy job.
The Hernando Squadron, centered in Brooksville, has seven Citrus County cadets and is the closest CAP squadron to Citrus County.
According to a push release, Ensign Sean Skinner instructed the cadets, ““Getting your peers to be in a position to hear to you is a little something that is extremely tough. Learning to lead other people — that is the ultimate problem of remaining a cadet.
“It’s tricky to do, but you understand to carry your self skillfully. You find out how to use your voice, how to speak, how you handle individuals, and how you deal with folks in a management function,” Skinner mentioned.

Skinner is assigned to Education Air Wing 4 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and has participated in ROTC, Officer Applicant University, and Navy flight college. He has a political science diploma from the University of South Florida.
As a cadet with the Hernando squadron from 2008-15, he rose by means of the ranks, attaining the situation of Cadet Captain.
The Civil Air Patrol delivers chances to study about flight, area flight, science, technology, look for and rescue, and catastrophe response. There are reductions for cadets searching for flight instruction and a non-public pilot’s license. Scholarships are obtainable in many locations.
The Civil Air Patrol seeks new users. Cadets can be part of at age 12, although grownups can be a part of at any age.
