I recognize the current initiatives of the Buddies of the Library to tackle the “leadership crisis” at the Anchorage Municipal Library, which has been functioning for some months without the need of a qualified director.

However, this crisis has been intentionally engineered by a mayor who is not staying genuine in his assurances that he is “committed to a crucial library procedure in our group.”

On the contrary, the mayor is evidently doing work tricky to create unilateral command over the library for ideological and political causes, an work that is antithetical to the target of a skilled, socially dependable, apolitical library program.
