A friend’s recommendation prompted a history retail store proprietor and a baker to sign up for their small business ventures.

The feeling of Valentine’s Working day arrived early at Mad Dough, Mandy Madsen’s new doughnut shop that opened Feb. 2 inside of Parker Yates’ history store, peasantries + pleasantries.
Heart garlands descended from the ceiling in the establishment at 807 S. 800 East in Salt Lake Town, and Elton John’s ballad “Your Song” performed by means of the put.
“We wanted to place on a playlist with a bunch of really like songs,” Yates reported. Coincidentally, it’s the very same playlist — called “101 Strategies to Say ‘I Enjoy You’” — he was building for Madsen’s birthday.
Madsen and Yates aren’t just enterprise companions — they’ve been courting considering that past September.
Yates met Madsen at Central 9th Market, a enterprise opened by his buddies. She was selling her doughnuts there. Yates at first went in to get a sandwich, but his buddies stored pestering him to try out the doughnuts.
“I was not truly like, essentially, a massive sweets guy,” he admitted. “But [they’re] not overly sweet.”
Just after the initially check out, Madsen reported, “he would just arrive in all the time and obtain doughnuts.”
