Danahy’s to close just after 97 many years in business

AMHERST, N.Y. — Danahy’s has been a staple in fashion in Western New York, and after 97 decades in company, it announced Thursday they would be closing in the spring. 

Liz Lennon, President at Danahy’s, reported in a letter to prospects that the uncertainty of the effects of COVID, and their lease staying up this this year, they produced the tricky decision to close in the spring. 

“There is no effortless way to say this and I desire I could get in touch with just about every of you individually.  But…it is with deep regret that I should permit you know that following 97 a long time of Fashion in Western New York

Danahy’s will be closing our doors this Spring.

Two years of COVID, the uncertainty of the consequences of COVID going ahead and our lease becoming up this 12 months has established the great storm. Unfortunately I felt there was no other decision to make but this very difficult one particular.

Danahy’s was established by Mabel Danahy and her sister in 1925. Their initial spot was on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. The business was offered in 1961 to new homeowners. In 1996, Danahy’s moved to the Northtown Plaza on Sheridan Travel just after 72 many years on Delaware Avenue.  Danahy’s then moved across the street to Piccadilly Plaza in 2017 following the Northtown Plaza was prepared for demolition for new improvement.
