NORTH MANKATO — Citizens blasted the North Mankato Town Council for the town using about Enjoyable Days from the not-for-profit group that has for many years structured the town’s most common event.

Numerous people accused City Administrator John Harrenstein of orchestrating a one-handed “hostile takeover” of Fun Times from the Civic and Commerce Affiliation.

Harrenstein still left the council chambers Monday before the community open forum. The boards are held instantly after the council meeting is adjourned. His absence drew fire from commenters.

But Councilman Billy Steiner, the longest-serving member of the council, explained these types of a significant adjust in the city’s premiere celebration need to have been brought to the council.   

“It should really be a Town Council final decision it should not be the determination of 1 man or woman to do a little something like this. Why aren’t we as a Metropolis Council questioned to make a determination on one thing this significant? I feel it was totally out of our palms,” he explained at Monday’s conference.

But the mayor and other four council users all defended the process in a composed statement Tuesday to The Free Push.
