FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) – An investigation is underway soon after an individual hacked into Broward Health’s network and accessed staff and patient info, officers with the health care technique mentioned.

In a statement issued Saturday, a spokesperson reported the hacker “gained entry gained entry to the Broward Health network through the place of work of a 3rd-get together healthcare supplier, who is permitted access to the method to deliver health care providers.”

Officials said the security breach took area Oct. 19.

The spokesperson wrote, “Broward Wellbeing discovered the intrusion … and immediately contained the incident, notified the FBI and the Office of Justice, and engaged an unbiased cybersecurity firm to carry out an investigation.”

Officers explained there is no evidence indicating any of the details accessed by the hacker has been misused.

The details involves “name, date of beginning, tackle, phone amount, money or bank account information, Social Protection quantity, insurance plan data and account amount, healthcare data which include heritage, ailment, treatment and diagnosis, medical file selection, driver’s license number and e-mail handle.”

The spokesperson wrote, “Broward Health and fitness has implemented enhanced security protocols to reduce long run threats, such as a needed password reset for all employees [and] multi-aspect authentication for all customers of its systems.”
