In a image from about 1890, Charles Ritter is baptized in Dry Creek and gets a member of the Galt Christian Church. The Ritter family were being originally from Seneca County, New York, and came to California in 1856. They farmed in the Elliott/Liberty space of northern San Joaquin County. Charles and Virginia Ritter had 4 kids: George, Ethel, Lester and Harold. The Ritters became popular space farmers with wide landholdings. Dry Creek was typically used for baptisms by nearby churches but only during the spring, which was the only time h2o was out there.
