Andrew Mau’s area, Island Boy Store, is most likely to stop up on vacation blogs and shopping web sites as a have to-shop-below place when viewing Honolulu. Why? He hunts for trendy-but-reasonable products and solutions that excite and educate customers. “A brand need to create a stellar solution inclusive of structure, perform and innovation no matter whether they are regional, nationwide, intercontinental, new or classic,” says Mau. “I’m also conscious of inclusivity the shop really should have a little something for dads, children and buyers hunting for a style that’s not so cookie-cutter.”

True to his text, when we poked all over his cozy shop/studio area neighboring artsy showroom Fishcake, quite banana- and peach-shaped glass-blown pipes by Oregon artist Michael Sorenson caught us mid-stride. A sleek squad of lighters in stylish hues and packaging , typical leather goods from Rhode Island label Lindquist. and neatly created Oigen forged-iron pans from Japan—way sexier than the 12-inch, 12-pound versions—strengthen the shop’s amazing vibe.

And not to sleep on regional designers, Mau gushes above a blue chalcedony ring by community designer M33ms. “It’s an elevated 50-carat stone from Turkey that’s extremely thoroughly clean,” he suggests. Matt Bruening totes, Language of the Birds dresses and Oshan Magnificence necessities also represent our fantastic inventive neighborhood. Of course, Mau’s have items, from his Mau-Residence style and design studio, will be staples at the shop—limited-edition jewellery, freshly built notecards and a single-off items of  property décor—but he shies absent from over representing himself. “I intention to target on the talented designers that encompass me,” says the island boy. “The studio is in the similar place, so any individual intrigued can invest time there.”
