Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has warned airways that his section could draft new policies about passenger legal rights if the carriers do not give extra help to travelers trapped by flight cancellations and delays.

Buttigieg is asking airline CEOs to, at a least, give lodging for passengers stranded overnight at an airport and give out meal vouchers for delays of three hours or for a longer time when the disruption is induced by a thing in the airline’s handle.
